Worship isn’t a weekly retreat from reality into some escapist enclave; it is our introduction into ‘the real world.’ Worship is the space in which we learn to take the right things for granted.
— J.K. Smith

No matter where or who you are — committed follower of Christ, curious about Christianity, or suspicious and skeptical of all things spiritual — we hope that you will feel welcome at Redeemer.

Perhaps church is new to you (or you have not been in a long time) and you fear that you will not know what to do, how to act, or what to say. If so, don't worry: Redeemer is a church for people just like you.

What To Expect

redeemer-worship2.jpg

Redeemer's worship service is both very new and very old. We want to be new because we strive to be indigenous to our city in our style. At the same time, we want to be old to connect us to the rich fabric of the Church’s worship through the centuries. We structure our service after a common pattern used consistently by the Church from the earliest recorded times until now. We sing, offer prayers, confess our sin, hear from God's word, sometimes use ancient creeds, and celebrate the Lord's supper each week.

You will never not know what to do in our service as we make an effort to explain things as we go along. We provide an explanation of the different parts of our worship in the side notes of the order of service found in the bulletin. The songs and readings we use will also be projected at the front of the church, and you can follow along there. You can find a Spotify playlist of some of the songs we often sing here.

Nursery is provided for children ages 1-3 years old. Children ages 4 years old to 3rd grade can go to Children’s Church during the sermon, but during the summer, only preschool children go to Children’s Church.

If you're wondering what to wear, just come as you are. Most folks at Redeemer dress pretty casually.

Children in Worship

Children are a valued part of the Redeemer Church community. We want them to be active participants in both the worship and work of the church. Parents should feel free to encourage their children's participation in the worship service. At the same time, we understand that little ones bring with them a variety of needs. In an effort to serve families and children, we offer the following during worship.

NURSERY

We seek to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our children. Nursery care is available to children from birth to age three, and is located in the church basement. All of our volunteers have undergone background checks, training, and adhere to the Redeemer Nursery Policy.

CHILDREN'S CHURCH

Children who are 4-years-old (and potty trained) to 3rd grade remain in the service with their parents until the sermon. During this time, they are able to go to age-appropriate Children’s Church classes led by Redeemer volunteers. The children meet their leaders in the back of the sanctuary and follow them to their classes. At the conclusion of our service, parents pick their children up from their classrooms. Any of our children's volunteers can help you figure out where you need to go.
