Psalm 41 Lyrics

1 How blessed is the one who loves the helpless and the weak;
The Lord delivers and protects that one when troubles peak.

2 The Lord preserves and saves his life, and blesses in the land,
He’ll not surrender him to foes, but keep him in His hand.

3 The Lord sustains him when he’s ill, and lifts him from his bed;
The Lord his illness takes away by lifting up his head.

4 I said, “O Lord, have mercy on a sinner steeped in wrong;
Heal me, O Lord, for I have sinned against You all day long.”

11 I know that You are pleased with me; my foes they will not stand;

12 In my integrity hold me, safe in Your righteous hand.

13 Praise be to God our cov’nant Lord, the God of Israel,
Forever and forevermore. Amen, Amen we’ll tell!

Psalm 40 Lyrics

1 I waited for the Lord my God; I waited patiently,
And He in mercy heard my cry; inclined His ear to me.

2 He brought me up out of the pit, out from the miry clay;
He set my feet upon a rock, there firm to stand and stay.

3 He put a new song in my mouth, God’s praise for all to hear;
And many then will trust the Lord, who see and learn to fear.

4 How blest the one who trusts the Lord, who looks not to the proud,
Nor to the ones who turn aside to false gods all around.

15 Let those who say to me, “Aha!” be appalled at their shame;
16 But may all who seek You rejoice and be glad in Your name.

May those who love salvation say, “Exalt the Lord always!”
17 Yet I am needy; think of me! My God, do not delay!

Psalm 39 Lyrics

4 “Show me, O Lord, what is my life, the number of my days;
Make me to know how fast it flies; how fleeting are my days.

5 For You have made life but a breath; my days but a short span;
My years as nothing before You, a mere breath is each man.

6 And phantom-like we go about, we scurry all in vain;
We heap up wealth, yet know not who will end up with our gain.

7 But now, Lord, what do I look for? My only hope’s in You.
8 Save me from my transgressions, and the scorn of fools subdue.

9 I’m silent, and keep my mouth closed, for You all this have done.
10 Remove Your scourge from me, for by Your hand I’m overcome.

11 For You rebuke and discipline all men for all their sin;
And You consume our wealth – it flies, like moths before the wind.

12 O hear my prayer, Lord, listen, as for help to You I cry;
Don’t be deaf to my weeping – like a foreigner am I.

Psalm 38 Lyrics

1 Lord, don’t rebuke me in Your wrath, in anger don’t chide me;

2 Your arrows pierce me and Your hand is heavy upon me.

3 Because of your great wrath, I’m sick; my bones are weak from sin;

4 My guilt o’erwhelms me like a weight, too deep to bear within.

5 My wounds, they fester loathsomely, because of sinful pride;

6 I am bowed down, brought very low; and mourn all day inside.

9 My longings lie before you, Lord; and You hear all my sighs;

10 With pounding heart, my strength fails me; the light’s gone from my eyes.

21 O Lord, do not forsake me now, and be not far from me;

22 O Lord, my Savior, hear me now; come quickly to help me.

Psalm 37 Lyrics

1 Don’t fret because of evil men, of wicked ones, don’t env’ous be;
2 For they, like grass, will fade away; like plants they’ll wilt and die quickly.
3 But trust the Lord and do what’s good; dwell in the land, safe days transpire;
4 Delight yourself in God the Lord, and He will give your heart’s desire.

5 Commit your way unto the Lord; put trust in Him for all you do;
6 And He will make your rightness shine, your justice like the sun at noon.
7 Be still before the Lord and wait; don’t fret when evil ones succeed;
8 Refrain from anger, turn from wrath; to fret will just to evil lead.

9 For evil ones will be cut off, but not those who hope in the Lord;
They will the land inherit while the wicked soon will be no more.
10 You’ll look for them – they won’t be found, though you may search and without cease;
11 Instead, the meek will find great joy, inherit land and know great peace.

Psalm 36 Lyrics

5 Your love, O Lord, does reach the heav’ns; Your faithfulness the skies;
6 Your righteousness like mountains great; Your justice deep does lie.

6b/ 7Lord, You preserve both man and beast – Your love’s beyond all things!
Both high and low find refuge in the shadow of Your wings.

8 They feast with great abundance – from Your house, they’re satisfied;
And from Your river of delights, drink for them You provide.

9 For with you is the fount of life; in your light, we see light;
10a Continue Your unfailing love to those who walk upright.

10b To those who know you, Lord, Your love and righteousness impart;
And keep them in your righteousness who are upright in heart.

Psalm 35 lyrics

1 Contend, O Lord, with those who do contend with me;
And fight against all those arrayed who battle against me.
2 Take up Your shield and sword; arise, come to my aid.
3 Oppose all those pursuing me; say to me, “You are saved.”

4 May those who seek my life now be disgraced and shamed;
May those who plot my ruin, Lord, be turned back and dismayed.
5 Like chaff before the wind, may angels drive them out.
6 May their path dark and slipp’ry be – pursued by angels’ shout.

15 But when I fell, they came; attacked with sland’rous glee.
16 Like wicked, they with malice mocked, and gnashed their teeth at me.
17 How long will You look on? O Lord, come rescue me!
And save my life from ravages of lions who stalk me.

18 Then I will give You thanks; Your praises I will sing;
And in the congregation great, exalting praise I’ll bring.
19 Don’t let my foes rejoice, who hate me without cause.
Don’t let them gloat and wink their eye with malice, but no cause.

27 May all who take delight that vindication’s mine,
May they with joy and gladness shout, and say, “The glory’s Thine!”
The Lord delights as those, His servants, are made strong;
28 My tongue  will sing Your righteousness and praises all day long.
